The Automation and Optimization team is responsible for identifying automation and process improvement opportunities, performing financial modeling, driving the automation roadmap, and executing automation projects. We also define and facilitate a governance model to ensure we leverage Tyson's full scale as a Fortune 100 company as we engage external partners and suppliers, simplify our automation solution catalog, and help streamline supportability and solution maintenance. The Staff Analyst Automation will play a crucial role as a senior member of our team to lead the definition of strategy, standards, governance, and tools in the roll-out of Automation solutions across Tyson's enterprise (includes both greenfield plant design and brownfield retrofitting). This individual must be passionate about staying current with new technologies in automation and manufacturing and how they can be implemented in food and beverage industry. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Define and document the standard automation approaches and solutions for new plant architecture and road mapping across our Poultry, Beef, Pork, and Prepared Foods businesses. Define, implement, and manage processes and standards regarding automation solutions across the entire Tyson enterprise Partner with business operations, engineering, international, and IT to define automation standards and approved vendors resulting in a solutions catalog Propose and facilitate processes and controls related to equipment purchases and assist in the governance of these processes (i.e. procurement controls) Analyze the financial and efficiency impacts of automation opportunities Define solution design documentation templates and setup documentation repositories for automation solutions Document the technical design of automation solutions in partnership with engineering, business operations, international, and IT Partner with industry leading technology companies and emerging technology startups to source and apply the new technologies The position entails rigorous process discipline and documentation practices as well as excellent cross-functional communication skills to assure functionality, safety, reliability and quality of the product Provide consulting services for automated solutions used in plant builds and expansions Subject Matter Expert in one or multiple areas of Automation, Controls, or Robotics Requirements:
Must have:
Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Information Systems equivalent degree or education 10
years of direct related experience in manufacturing and production environments with an emphasis on process optimization and electrical control systems Ability to architect and design new factory process flows and data from each type of equipment Experience with PLC, SCADA, and MES platforms and systems in order to create an end-to-end factory floor design Experience and understanding of industrial networks as well as network segmentation and cyber security Working knowledge and experience in industrial robotics and artificial intelligence and their application in a production environment Experience and understanding of ERP platforms and systems with the ability to process map planning activities to execution activities at the factory level Experience in food and beverage industry with proven ability to understand push vs pull process manufacturing Experience and understanding of OEE, recipe management, near real time WIP inventory tracking Understanding of production sequencing and labor management Proven experience installing/implementing automation solutions in manufacturing industries. Experience with automation industry standards e.g. ISO 13849, NEMA ratings, UL standards, etc. Nice to have:
An organized and process-minded approach to solving problems Hand-on experience where you have brought organization to ambiguous environment with the use of processes, standards, and governance Strong documentation skills with experience documenting technical or production solutions as well as creating standard templates for repeated use Proficient in the use of process mapping software and tools Proficient in the use of blueprint and cad platforms such as Auto Cad or SolidWorks Ability to clearly tell the story and tailor messaging Proven ability to mentor team members to grow in their own career and impact Ability to lead a team of colleagues towards a common goal and achieve successful outcomes Understanding of interdependencies between information technology, automation, operations, and engineering Understanding and knowledge of food production processes and solutions is desired Experience with industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices and their deployment at scale Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to operate within complex situations, break them down, and work with others to define the path forward
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
